May day 04/26/2010
When I was little, each first of May we would make May Day baskets. We'd gather an odd assortment of flowers, place them on the front step of a friend, ring the doorbell, and run with all our might. Why should children have all the fun? Even better, now that we're older, we have more options ... **For the gardener, deliver a small pack of annuals or perennials. **For the non-gardener, deliver cones of fresh flowers (The cones can be very simply to make ... take a large scrapbook page, hold it like a diamond, fold the sides over and tape, glue or staple - Voila! If you wish to hand it from a doorknob, simply add tulle or a silk ribbon). **For the elderly, a bouquet or something with benefits of aromatherapy--such as lavender or eucalyptus. **For the gourmet, bake a cake (or cupcakes) and garnish with edible flowers. **For the loved-one-who-lives-far-away, mail a packet of seeds or a bloomin' card. And remember, it's against the rules to sign your name. Happy May Day to you will do... Add Comment Wrapped with love 04/16/2010
I don't know about you, but I love me a good label ... like these FABULOUS envelope wraps. Better yet, they're free for the download, courtesy of Natalie Jost and Miss B of Blah, blah, blahg... Click here to get the low-down ... or download, as the case may be! A rainy day 04/12/2010
It's another gloomy day here ... the sky is grey, the rain falls, the wind kicks up its heels and makes a rukus. In such weather there's really only so much you can do. Thankfully, it includes lighting candles, pouring some tea, and writing a note or two. And what could be more appropriate for these April showers than a pup donning bright yellow galoshes? Yeah, I can't think of anything either. You can purchase one or a set at Rifle Paper Co. Happy Easter Monday 04/05/2010
Happy Easter Monday - I hope you had a blessed Easter season. Now that the hoilday is past, what to do with all those cute cards you received? How about turn them into decoration? For instance ... I found the most adorable vintage postcard. Much too cute to discard (seriously - chicks in tophats?). So I grabbed an old, cheap frame that I had lying about ... slid in the postcard (I took out the glass since it was precarious, at best) ... and tied a bright ribbon to the back. Voila! Blooming wedding invitations 03/22/2010
Aaah, spring has sprung! It's time for blue skies and sunshine. If you're a bride, it may also be time to plan the wedding of your dreams. I've already begun to amass quite the collection of wedding invitations. They're so beautiful - it seems a pity they'll soon be tossed. That's what makes Bloomin Invites so fabulous - you don't have to throw them away! When all is said and done you simply plant the invite - in its place will sprout flowers. It's the perfect way to celebrate your day - offer thanks for being a part - and give a reason to smile long after "I do"... Happy St. Paddy's Day! 03/17/2010
Happy St. Patrick's Day, dear readers! In honor of the day, an Irish blessing ... May love and laughter light your days, and warm your heart and home. May good and faithful friends be yours, wherever you may roam. May peace and plenty bless your world with joy that long endures. May all life's passing seasons bring the best to you and yours! Laugh - it's funny. 03/15/2010
The members of my family share a sense of humor that's a bit askew - I'll be the first to admit. I'll also admit that I'm thankful for it. Hilarity, you see, has seen us through a tough patch - and it's certain to see us through many more. If you know someone who could use a good laugh, check out Look Mama! The cards of this Australian company are bound to produce at least a chortle, if not a gaffaw! Keep Calm and Carry On 03/09/2010
Of all odd holidays, today's is no-good-very-bad-idea. March 9th is Panic Day. Not sure who came up with that brilliant idea, but my response is don't do it. I rather think we should abide by the addage once found on British WWII posters - Keep Calm and Carry On. And what do you know? The Keep Calm Gallery has postcards with that very sentiment; so you can pop a wee reminder in the post to all your friends. Now that, my friends, is something worth celebrating! Postcards for spring 03/05/2010
Okay, so it isn't officially spring ... but it seems mighty close. As I type, the birds are singing, the sky is blue, and the sun is making its way through the window panes. It makes me want to send something bright and cheery! Lucky for me (and you!) Yasmine, over at A Print a Day, has made these postcards available for free download. Visit her site to review usage guidelines and download file. Lucky clover greetings 03/01/2010
It's the first of March - and you know what that means don't you? In a few short days some of you will be wearing of the green, kissing total strangers, and drinking copious amounts of beer. Even if you don't get wild and crazy when it comes to the 17th of March, you might at least consider sending an Irish blessing to those you love most. How about this Lucky Clover greeting card from CreativeApple's Etsy site. It's green, full of clover, and lovely enough to frame ... |
